Charming but staff could improve
Waking up in a spacious suite with well-decorated interiors was delightful, as was enjoying the serene atmosphere of the historical surroundings.
The front desk staff’s lack of responsiveness to our requests was frustrating, and the breakfast selection could have benefitted from more variety.

Just a perfect match for a brief stop-in in Riga with extraordinarily good value for money. The cozy room had reliable free Wi-Fi that made planning our day super easy. Make sure to check out the lovely inner garden while you're there.

The room was cramped, the smallest double I've ever seen, with a bed made from two singles pushed together. The floor was stained, and the TV faced the foot of the bed. There was no sitting space—just standing or perching on the end of the bed to watch. The curtain gap let in too much early summer light. The shared terrace was weirdly set up without chairs, and the bathroom showed some charm with antique tiles, but overall, it felt pretty shabby.

The Garden Palace in Riga caught my attention with its antique decor and location right at the beginning of the Old Town. My deluxe room was spacious, featuring a comfortable bed that I truly appreciated. I found the furniture and bathroom a bit worn out. Upon arrival, the male receptionist welcomed us warmly, which was a nice touch, yet we faced a hassle when the payment terminal didn’t function correctly, forcing us to withdraw cash from an ATM. The atmosphere felt somewhat off, as we frequently encountered staff who weren't responsive, especially the men stationed at the locked entrance gate. Breakfast offered a decent selection, but I noticed some items ran out quickly, especially the bacon. I did manage to enjoy my meal, although it could have been replenished more efficiently. One thing that stood out was the shared balcony. I wasn’t completely comfortable with that arrangement. I left feeling the hotel had charm but wasn't quite living up to its potential. All in all, I wasn’t eager to extend my stay here, so I would likely look for another option next time I visit Riga.
